Use and maintenance of diaphragm coupling
Feb 07, 2019

The diaphragm coupling is known for its compactness, but because of its ingenuity, it is necessary to pay attention to during installation and use. In particular, the safety of the diaphragm coupling is that the diaphragm itself is a very sharp one. Before installation, be sure to wear gloves and ensure that you will not be cut by the diaphragm.

The diaphragm coupling is no more than a flexible coupling that is formed integrally, and it requires careful maintenance to extend its life. Firstly, before installation, the two shaft faces should be cleaned thoroughly, and then the notches of the two end faces should be inspected, the two-axis end faces should be cleaned, and the matching of the end keyway slots should be checked. After installation, a test run is recommended before the formal use. All screws tightness must be checked again to ensure safe operation.

In order to prevent the fretting wear of the diaphragm at high speed, a solid lubricant such as molybdenum disulfide or a surface of the diaphragm should be coated between the diaphragms. Long-term overloading and operational accidents should be avoided.

Appropriate safety precautions must be taken at each site that may cause personal and equipment accidents due to the operation of the diaphragm
